The Witness Collective is an artist-led collective formed through a shared commitment to contemporary artistic practice, mutual support and thoughtful public engagement.
We began through the Newlyn Studio Practice course 2025, where a number of artists wanted to continue the dialogue, trust, challenge and creative exchange that had developed during the course.
We work across different media and approaches, but are connected by recurring human and ethical concerns: how people, places, memory and lives are shaped over time.
The collective is currently taking shape.
During 2026, we are forming the core group, developing our working structure, and beginning research towards future exhibitions and projects.
Our aim is to create a first significant public exhibition or project in 2027.
We are interested in work that is serious, open and socially aware. Work that asks questions. Work that can reach different publics without becoming simplified. Work that has a reason to be seen together.
